Bithope’s Mission After June 30, 2026

The Bithope Foundation, registered in Sofia in November 2014, was the first organisation in Europe to enable small and medium-sized non-profits to receive international, pseudonymous bitcoin donations with full transparency. The public Bitcoin ledger provided complete transactional openness, complemented by our thorough post-campaign documentation. Throughout our work, we ensured that at least 95% of every donation reached the intended beneficiary. Bithope has always been a cause, not a business.

On 30 June 2026, the Bulgarian Markets in Crypto-Assets Act (the national implementation of the EU’s MiCA Regulation) enters into force. Every entity offering crypto-asset services to third parties must then hold a licence from the Financial Supervision Commission (FSC) or cease operations. As we are not pursuing a licence, the Bithope Foundation will stop launching new charitable campaigns from that date.

On 19 February 2026, we submitted a winding-down plan to the FSC and requested delisting from the national VASP (Virtual Asset Service Provider) register. Donations for the three campaigns still active will be forwarded to their beneficiaries in full accordance with the approved plan.

This chapter of our work ends, but our public-benefit mission continues.

Sofia Crypto Meetup (SCM), running since January 2016, is the longest-standing monthly blockchain event in the region. With more than 100 editions held to date, it is the place to meet the most active crypto enthusiasts and professionals in Bulgaria. On December 5, 2024, with Bitcoin trading above $100,000 for the first time in history, the Bithope Foundation held its 10-year anniversary event in Sofia. The informal cocktail brought together representatives of the Bulgarian non-profit and blockchain ecosystem, partners, and a curated circle of friends of the foundation. Founder Vladislav Dramaliev presented the Foundation’s work across the past decade and the effects of the MiCA Regulation on its future activities. Photos from the event are below. About the Bithope Foundation

Inspired by a quote from Andreas Antonopoulos, the Bithope Foundation was registered in Sofia on November 24, 2014, as Europe’s first non-profit operating exclusively with bitcoin donations.

Across more than 10 years, the Foundation has run three activity streams: a commercial arm (the CoinFixer exchange and the ETHSofia and F3 conferences), an educational arm (Sofia Crypto Meetup since January 2016, events participation, podcasts, private consultations, and regular media appearances), and a charitable arm hosting donation campaigns at bithope.org (closed on June 30, 2026). Vladislav Dramaliev, Founder and Director

Vladislav Dramaliev has been active in crypto and blockchain in Bulgaria since 2013. He co-founded the country’s first online bitcoin broker, bitcoini.com (with Nikolay Presolski), is a founding member of the Bulgarian Bitcoin Association, founded coinfixer.com (crypto broker, inactive), and co-founded and led the Sofia Crypto Meetup community until January 2026. He has led communications and marketing across the digital-asset industry, including as Director of Marketing at IPOR Labs, and continues to direct the Bithope Foundation’s educational and non-profit mission.
